Privacy Policy

HiveTerm ("we", "our", "us") is a desktop application developed and maintained by its creator. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Data We Collect

License Activation

When you activate a Pro license, we collect:

• Machine fingerprint — a SHA-256 hash derived from your hostname, MAC address, OS, and architecture. This is a one-way hash; we cannot reverse it to identify your hardware.
• Email address — provided during purchase via Stripe, used to deliver your license key and send renewal reminders.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers, bank details, or any payment credentials. Stripe's privacy policy applies to all payment data. See stripe.com/privacy.

Application Usage

HiveTerm does not collect telemetry, usage analytics, crash reports, or any data about how you use the application. The app runs entirely on your machine.

Website

Our website (hiveterm.com) is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser user agent, pages visited) as part of their infrastructure. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Machine fingerprint — to enforce the 2-machine activation limit per Pro license and validate licenses offline.
• Email — to deliver license keys, send renewal reminders, and communicate important product updates. We do not send marketing emails.

3. Data Storage and Security

License data is stored securely in Cloudflare Workers KV, a globally distributed key-value store. License tokens are signed with Ed25519 cryptography and validated offline on your machine. Your license token is cached locally at ~/.hiveterm/license.token.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Data is only shared with:

• Stripe — for payment processing.
• Cloudflare — for website hosting and license API infrastructure.

5. Data Retention

License activation records are retained for the duration of your subscription plus 30 days after expiration. If you request deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of any data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Deactivate your license from a machine at any time through the app.

7. Children's Privacy

HiveTerm is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of HiveTerm after changes constitutes acceptance.
